What Makes a Great Salesperson?

Discuss with your partner what traits define a top-performing sales professional in the US market. Compare hunters and farmers, and share examples of inspiring or annoying seller behaviours.

• Describe a time when you met a truly charismatic and empathetic salesperson in Boston or New York.
• Do you consider yourself more of a hunter or a farmer when managing accounts in Seattle?
• Why is being resilient so important when dealing with stalled opportunities?
• Share an experience where a vendor's approach was utterly useless or annoying.

Feedback on Sales Performance

Write an internal message (60–100 words) to your sales manager in Chicago nominating a colleague for the Annual Sales Excellence Award. Mention why they are a trusted adviser and a natural seller.

• Use at least two -ed or -ing adjectives (e.g., impressed, inspiring).
• Include one extreme adjective with 'absolutely' (e.g., absolutely brilliant).
• Check your use of present perfect to describe recent achievements.
