You are the incoming clinical lead at Chicago General. You are meeting your predecessor, who is highly protective of his record and reluctant to discuss inherited problems. Role-play the meeting to build consensus and gather crucial clinical information.
• Ask tactfully about the main resistance to change in the surgical department.
• Inquire gently about the most recent staff survey results and nurse morale.
• Present your vision for your first hundred days and ask for his feedback.
The First Hundred Days Strategy Memo
Write an email to the medical director of Boston General outlining your strategy for your first hundred days as the new clinical lead. Explain how you plan to address inherited problems and win people over. Write between 80 and 120 words.
• State your vision clearly and identify at least one quick win.
• Use the verb + object + infinitive structure to describe your expectations of the staff.
• Incorporate at least two key performance indicators to measure your success.
