Ten Wedding Disasters and How We Saved Them

Welcome back to my blog! As a professional wedding planner in Seattle, I've seen it all. People often ask me how I stay calm when things go wrong. Let me share my top ten disaster stories and how we managed to rescue the day.
First, we had a bride who managed to trip over her heavy designer dress right before the ceremony started. She could have hurt herself badly, but we caught her just in time and pinned the hem with safety pins.
Second, a famous reception venue forgot our booking entirely. We didn't need to panic; instead, we moved thirty guests to a lovely local restaurant down the street and enjoyed amazing Italian food.
Third, a sudden storm brought heavy rain on the day of an outdoor garden wedding. The guests were supposed to sit under fragile tents, but we quickly relocated everyone indoors without any major inconvenience.
Fourth, the florist failed to deliver the main table decorations because of a truck breakdown. We compromised on simple wildflowers from the garden, and they looked even better than the original expensive roses.
Fifth, a nervous groom completely forgot the vows halfway through the ceremony. He ought to have written them down on a small card, but I whispered the lines to him just in time.
Sixth, an uninvited guest showed up claiming to be the bride's long-lost cousin from Boston. We quietly gave him a plate of food at a separate table so he wouldn't spoil the peaceful mood.
Seventh, the DJ's equipment broke down during the first dance. We didn't need to cancel the music; we simply used a portable Bluetooth speaker and played songs from my phone.
Eighth, the wedding cake collapsed into a sweet, sticky pile of chocolate and cream. We could have cried, but we turned it into an accidental sundae bar and everyone laughed it off.
Ninth, the best man lost the rings in the hotel lobby. He needn't have searched every trash can because we found them inside a decorative plant pot an hour later.
Finally, number ten: my own wedding last summer. My husband got the date wrong, the caterer brought the wrong food, and it rained heavily. But we went off without a hitch because love is all that matters!
