Meeting colleagues on the first day
Role-play your arrival on the ward. Introduce yourself to a senior nurse or another resident in Chicago, state your role, and ask two questions about the ward.
• Say hello and tell the colleague your name and role.
• Ask where the staff room is.
• Ask when the morning meeting starts.
A short message to your consultant
Write a short email (40-60 words) to Dr Davis, your consultant in London, to say hello on your first day and ask where to go.
• Use correct question word order for your question.
• Mention your name and that today is your first day.
• Keep sentences simple and professional.
