Work with a partner. Discuss a holiday or road trip that did not go according to plan. Talk about travel delays, family arguments, and how you solved the problems.
• Describe a time when you or your family got on each other's nerves during a trip.
• Talk about a change of plan that ruined your original itinerary.
• Explain how you managed to keep the peace and compromise on activities.
• Share your thoughts on whether road trips with kids are worth the trouble.
A Message to a Friend about a Delayed Journey
Write a message (60–100 words) to a friend in London explaining why your holiday journey was delayed, how the children behaved in the backseat, and what your current plans are.
• Use future in the past structures (e.g., 'We were going to leave...')
• Include at least three lesson vocabulary items (e.g., backseat, meltdown, tired but happy).
• Check your use of past tenses and linking words.
