A Phone Call from the City
Role-play a phone call with a partner. One person is stuck in a taxi in downtown Chicago and describes what is happening right now. The other person is at home in a quiet neighborhood and asks questions about the city.
• Where are you right now and what can you see?
• Is the traffic moving or are you stuck in a traffic jam?
• What are people doing on the street around you?
A Message About Your City
Write a short message (40–120 words) to a friend in another city. Tell them where you are right now, what you are doing, and what the weather and street look like.
• Use the present continuous for actions happening right now (e.g., I am sitting, it is raining).
• Use words like downtown, noisy, traffic jam, and square.
• Check your word order in questions if you ask your friend something.
