The Missing Cake Investigation
Work with a partner. One of you is a detective in Seattle, and the other is a family member. Discuss who ate the birthday cake.
• Ask what your partner was doing at eight o'clock.
• Talk about the clues you found in the kitchen fridge.
• Decide who is innocent and who is guilty.
A Note About the Mystery
Write a short message (40–120 words) to your friend in Boston. Explain what happened in your kitchen last night and ask for help.
• Use subject questions like 'Who ate...?' or 'What happened?'.
• Use past continuous and time sequencers like 'while' and 'then'.
• Check your spelling of words like 'kitchen', 'fridge', and 'clue'.
