Delegating a Major Migration
Role-play a conversation between a senior manager (in London) and a team lead (in Chicago). The manager is handing over a critical database migration before taking a two-week vacation. Discuss guardrails, autonomy, and how to handle blockers without micromanaging.
• Explain the project scope and why you are entrusting this task to your colleague.
• Agree on specific guardrails and where the team member has full leeway.
• Establish how you will 'trust but verify' progress while you are away.
Handover Email to the Team
Write an email (60-100 words) to your engineering team in London explaining that you are handing off a critical API project to Brittany while you are on leave. Emphasize that she has full autonomy and encourage everyone to support her.
• Clearly state who is taking over the oversight of the project.
