Triage Meeting Role-Play
Work with a partner in the London office to discuss an unexpected system outage. Use modals of deduction to present your theories and narrow down the cause.
• Explain what you found in the log file with a specific timestamp.
• Use 'must be' or 'might be' to share your hypothesis about the root cause.
• Rule out at least one red herring that wasted your time earlier.
• Agree on the next step to trace the remaining intermittent errors.
Incident Investigation Summary
Write a short message (60-100 words) for the #incidents Slack channel in our Austin office. Explain that you analyzed the log files, share your hypothesis about the request ID mismatch, and state what the team must check next.
• Use at least two modals of deduction (e.g., must, might).
• Include key technical terms like timestamp, log file, and request ID.
• Keep your message clear and concise for your colleagues.
