A Message From Executive Leadership: Putting Our Drivers First

To all employees and logistics partners across our American network, I'm writing to address a fundamental shift in how we measure success at our company. Over the past three quarters, our executive team has reviewed numerous operating ratio comparisons and financial reports. While our numbers look respectable on paper, we find it hard to celebrate financial growth when it comes at the expense of our driving fleet. We owe it to our drivers to create an environment where safety is never compromised for the sake of quick revenue.

Historically, our industry has treated driver welfare as an afterthought rather than a core operational priority. We often take it for granted that experienced professionals will simply absorb every risk thrown their way, from severe weather events to impossible delivery windows. That era in our company history is officially over. We consider it essential to establish a genuine culture of care throughout every department, starting right here in our corporate offices.

Let's make it clear that leadership accountability begins with executive decisions, not empty slogans posted on breakroom walls. We must walk the talk when operational pressures mount. Whenever a winter storm hits the Midwest or heavy traffic delays a critical cross-country run, our dispatchers feel immense pressure to deliver freight on time. However, pushing tired drivers to compromise their rest breaks is no longer acceptable under any circumstances.

To ensure our commitment is real, we're introducing a comprehensive overhaul of our internal policies. We're expanding our safety investment budget by forty percent this fiscal year. This funding will support better fatigue monitoring tools, upgraded speed limiters on all heavy equipment, and continuous training programs designed to empower every single employee to speak up without fear of retaliation.

Furthermore, we're redefining how we evaluate our operations team's performance. In the past, logistics metrics heavily favored speed and volume above all else. Moving forward, dispatch supervisors will be judged by their ability to manage risk effectively. We're instituting a new incentive structure whereby dispatchers actively receive financial bonuses for pulling loads off drivers who report excessive fatigue or unsafe road conditions.

Some industry analysts might argue that prioritizing safety over utilization will negatively impact our operating ratio in the short term. They might point to historical jury awards and punitive damages across the transportation sector as mere costs of doing business. We reject that cynical perspective entirely. We view safety leadership not as a burdensome expense, but as our strongest competitive advantage in a tight labor market.

Our recent net promoter score among our fleet drivers has shown encouraging improvements, but we're nowhere near where we need to be. We want our drivers to feel a strong moral obligation from management, knowing that their well-being matters more than any quarterly earnings report. When a plaintiff attorney looks at our safety records during litigation, we want them to see a best-in-class operation that laggards should emulate.

We recognize that changing a deeply ingrained corporate culture requires more than just a memo from the executive suite. It requires constant vigilance, transparent communication, and absolute dedication from every manager in our building. If a dispatcher feels pressured by a demanding shipper, they have our full backing to push back against unreasonable demands. Our company promise is simple: we'll never trade a driver's life for a freight bill.

Thank you to everyone who has embraced these changes and helped us build a safer workplace for our entire team. Whether you manage accounts in Seattle, coordinate freight in Chicago, or haul cargo across the interstate highways, your dedication makes all the difference. Let's continue moving forward together with a renewed commitment to excellence, integrity, and mutual respect on the road.

Sincerely, Brittany, Chief Executive Officer; Steve, Chief Operating Officer; Tom, Vice President of Safety.
